Please, Please, help me with my ATI Rage 128 AGP, 16Mb
Thank you for taking the time to look at my article.
I just recently reinstalled WinXP on my computer. I have downloaded the latest DirectX, the latest drivers for my Rage 128, and the monitor drivers I need to make my monitor work. Whenever I go to play a game the screen goes blank and the light on the monitor flashes as if it isn't recieving a signal. Before I reinstalled Windows the game worked fine, so it can run on my computer. What should I do? My computer has: Pentium 3, 500 Mhz (not overclocked) 192Mb Double Sided SD RAM ATI Rage 128 AGP, 16Mb Video Card (not overclocked) Aureal Vortex 8830 Sound Card (I think) Asus P3B-F Motherboard Samsung SP0411N HD Windows XP Professional Acana 17s When I reinstalled WinXP I changed my hard drives format from FAT32 to NTFS. Could this make a difference. I have had this same problem twice before this. The first I fixed it by getting new drivers for my monitor. The second time I redownloaded DirectX. I have tried all of these and none have worked. I have no clue what to do. If you gave any advice THANK YOU VERY MUCH! Last edited by thegmister : 05-08-2005 at 04:26 PM. The Games I am trying to run
All the games I am trying to run are old and to not recquire to many resources:
Warcraft 3 Patrician 3 Midtown Madness 2 Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun Firestorm Age of Empires 2: Age of Kings Some games work, but there are only a couple that work. |

Hmm, WC3 might give it a hard time. I'm not familiar with the second title. Midtown madness isn't that power hungry. I've run that on an nVidia Riva 128ZX with good speed. Command and Conquer is 2D if I remember right and can run on virtually anything. Age of Empires I think is the same. Even with a good video card your CPU would really limit things for gaming.
