(not resolved) Problems with Geforce 6600

Hi, i'm new to this board and i'm hoping some of you might be able to help me.
I recently purchased a Chaintech SK8T800 motherboard along with an Athlon64 3000+ cpu. I also have a Geforce 6600 AGP 8x video card. Since the installation of all of this hardware I have done a fresh install of Windows XP and the drivers that came with the hardware. For some reason my comp. will freeze up after closing games out or running just about any directx application. I have a 450 watt power supply also.....

Any Ideas?

So it never happens when the card is under heavy stress (playing games, benchmarking) - only at the point when you exit a game ?

GeForce 6600's and 6800's have two separate clock rates: one for 2D mode and one for 3D mode. It's possible that your board is having problems when it shifts back from 3D mode to 2D mode which would happen at the end of games. I've seen folks on other forums with those boards have clock shift problems with non-Intel chipsets although your symptoms are different than theirs. You might try slowing your AGP from 8X to 4X or disabling fast writes. That fixed the dual clock problem for some people. The other thing you could try is to force the 2D and 3D clocks to be the same value using RivaTuner.
