ATI Radeon 9550 problem
I bought a Radeon 9550se card a couple of months back so I could play my new Game (EQ2) and well, it doesn't work =\
At first it started off telling me that (after about 20 minutes of gameplay) that the VPU has reset your graphics accelerators as they have stopped responding to your graphics drivers commands I didn't have a clue what this meant, so I asked a couple of mates who are kind of computer savvy and they said to download some new drivers. So I did, it didn't change anything, still crashed. I downloaded AGP drivers for my motherboard hoping it might help, nope. On saturday I took it back to the shop and asked them to look at it, told them the problem etc. I got it back today and they told me that they couldn't find anything that was wrong with it, they'd run it on 3dMark for hours and played several games on it but it still worked fine. They recommended downloading more drivers etc.. Now I can get about 2 minutes before it crashes, and on CS 1.6 I get anywhere between 10 minutes and 2 hours. Sorry for a rant but I really don't know where to turn, can any of you guys help? PS: my Motherboard is a ASROCK VIA K7v88 ATA SKT |

If you trust the shop and what they said (because some say they do testing but never do) then i'd say it has to do with something in your system.
The 9550 isnt really that power hungy but there is a chance that your power supply is insufficient. Could you list the PSU specs please ? Another thing to look at is overheating. Maybe when they tested it it was on an open testbed with plenty of ventilation - but as soon as you put the card back in the case its getting too warm. Try leaving the case panel off and let a big house fan blow right on the card to see if it makes a diffrence.

Yes try what i suggested - and a search through the threads in this board might be helpful aswell. We have dozens of problems similar to yours here every week - so reading through older (and sometimes successfully solved) threads might give you some clues what else to look out for or what to try.

ati Radeon 9550 problem
I also have the same sort of problem with my card, well I think its my card, when I play a game called battlefield 1942 or battlefield vietnam, my comp starts bleeping and shuts down, or crashes, I have installed the graphics drivers again, activex drivers, but cant solve whats wrong with it, a friend seems to think that its my graphics card, I like the other person took it back to the shop I bought mine from Micro Direct, and they tested it on two programs, but I dont think they put enough pressure on it, I saw them test it, on a motherboard that was sat on a desk, and everything was running smooth. They said no there is no problem with your graphics card, so I brought it back home again and put it back in the machine, when I played battlefield again same thing happend, bleep bleep off, can anyone help me with this problem I am having? I have done the activex tests and it passes no bleeping or anything. My card is the Radeon 9550 256mb.
