Dual View Monitor?
I currently have two lcd monitors but only one vga input on my computer. I want to find the cheapest way to have both monitors work. They need to be able to show different info so I don't think a vga splitter will work?? Thanks for the help.

as far as i know you can use a splitter and it will work for both monitors. if you use XP you can choose in the display properties how to configure the monitors [i.e. which will be default and such.] if you have a DVI input on your graphics card you can get a adapter to use. there may be some video degredation but it will work.

Now dairyguy - the only thing (IMO) that would work for you is a graphics card with either dual VGA output or VGA + DVI connectors. Depending on if any of your LCD screens have a DVI connector you can connect one of the LCDs via VGA output - the other by DVI or both via VGA by using a VGA-DVI converter on the graphics card. Cards with dual outputs are just as cheap as cards with only a vga output.

i have only confirmed the splitter from a friend i know in same state will see if i can find out where he acquired such item
as for graphics card abilities i have heard of a computer using dual 6800s by nVidia, obviously this is quite expensive, and quite ridiculous if you ask me but if you have the money and the desire to do such a thing than have right at it. |

Well yes its called SLI and can be done with certain cards of the 6800 and also 6600 series if they support it.
BUT you dont need to have SLI to have 2 monitors connected to a graphics card and have them both display a diffrent picture. Cards with DUAL VGA or VGA +DVI can be bought for 30$.

I'm running with a 6600gt and an S3 Trio (two completely seperate video cards). I can just scroll my mouse from one to the other. When I play a game, fps isn't diminished at all because each card generates a seperate image, so my 6600gt doesn't need to generate the desktop image it only generates the game and the S3 generates the desktop.
My 6600gt has vga and dvi output and I have a dvi -> vga adapter, but personally I like having two cards because the fps is completely seperate (which is especially good for gaming).
