ATI Radeon All-In-Wonder Pro 128mb
Hi all, I need some advice with a problem that's cropped up with a new-build system, these are the specs:
Asus A7N8X-Delux 1mb Corsair ram (2X256mb) AMD Athlon 3200+ Sounblaster Audigy Radeon 9800 All-In-Wonder Pro 128mb Tagan TG380-U01 380W ATX2.0 Silent PSU Other parts are hdd, case, etc. All the parts were bought brand new, fitted in to the case without a problem and windows was installed without a problem. Once windows loaded we noticed the computer reboot it's self, but this could have been one of us hitting the reset switch accidentally. Software and driver loading seemed to go fine although once again, we noticed the computer resetting it's self, although this could also have been one of us accidentally knocking the power switch as we were fiddling around quite a lot at the time. The big problem became apparant once everything was loaded, the computer reset it's self after a couple of minutes and came back up with the standard XP error box asking to send a report to MS. When we did so, the report suggested a problem with the Graphics card drivers. The drivers came direct from the graphics card CD and i'm unsure how they can cause a problem such as this. Something I did find out later on was that my friend had used a knocked-off version of windows on the computer which i suspect is either riddled with viri or corrputed, I have yet to investigate this but can anyone suggest other possible causes of this problem? I'm afraid i can't be more accurate as to the error report, because the report it's self was vague, simply stating that a problem with the graphics drivers 'may' have caused the computer to crash. Any help will me greatly appreciated! Artie. |

Have you tried updating the drivers?
If not click HERE and install the newest one available, and see if that fixes your problem.

Thanks for that Elf, I did try updating the drivers but had two problems; the ATI website loaded very slowly and the support pages didn't load at all (all other websites were fine, maybe they were having a bad day), and by the time the site did load, the computer would reset it's self.
I believe we've found the problem, it was twofold; the case screw-hole and the screw-hole on the Graphics card don't line up, consequently screwing the card in place unseated it from the AGP port by quite a few milimeters, we still had problems after this but they were related to updating his version of windows (that he picked up in some forign land for a few pounds ). So i'm picking up a genuine version on the way home tonight and giving it a nice fresh install.Wish me luck

Yea one of my cases is bent and I can't screw in my sound card. I'm glad you figured it out and hopefully the reinstall will go smoothly!
