just a video card question

if i was to buy a radeon pro 9600 video card and install it in my 1.5 ghz 480 meg ram cpu.. would it make a significant difference in running games like counterstrike? or should i just upgrade my computer? i have a s3 graphics prosavage compaq... thanks.

I would get some more ram for that, and if you bought that card, you would be able to play some games on it decently. I wouldnt go as far as doom 3 or hl2 but you could get some call of duty or max payne goin

You could probably pull off hl2 or doom3 with that card, but definately not at full graphics. As for ram...you could if you wanted, and it might help some, but its not absolutely neccessary (up until just recently I was running 256 megs).

If you have the money I would say go for something better, be it a 6600gt or 9800xt (I prefer geforce 6600gt) or up to a 6800gt or x800xt, but 9600xt (get xt not pro) should run most games just not with the graphics turned up.
