Radius 15" monitor is black
I have a 15" LCD monitor that was given to me with the understanding it stopped working on his computer. I checked it out on my old 486 windows 98 computer and the same thing happened. It turns on and after 5 seconds it fades black and the power light flashes from green to amber. I started it in safe mode and changed it to the lowest resolution - no change. This is a analog monitor and still has a faint picture beyond the black screen. If I turn the monitor off and back on I have a picture again for 5 seconds.
Any suggestions? |

Unfortunately i think you're out of luck on this one. This problem sounds like a faulty component inside the monitor, such as a leaky capacitor or the like. So, unless you're confident with opening the unit up and testing/replacing proprietry components (who is?) then you may as well give up on it.

A similar problem
I have a similar problem with my Trinitron monitor lately. Its the same monitor i've had for about 4 or 5 years now. I recently put together a box with a Asus A7V600 Via KT600 Athlon XP processor, DFI KT600-AL Via KT600 Athlon(XP) motherboard, and a Radeon something videocard.
However, my monitor doesn't go black immediately. As in right now, I'm using it. I don't know what triggers the fade, but its a fade to black, and the power light stays green. all my programs keep running, and the mouse and keyboard still elicit a response. Also, the monitor doesn't always stay black. Occasionally, it will fade back into the desktop after a few seconds, but if its been black for say 30 seconds, its probably not coming back. For me, its a tossup between a problem with the monitor, which would be an easy fix (buy a new one), but i'd rather not spend the money. Or, some program is messing up the communication, and i'll need to do some digging. Any suggestions? |
