Upgrading video card - Driver question
I've been using a Geforce2MX for quite some time now, and have been keeping it more or less updated with the newest drivers (translation: whenever I remember to look). I recently bought a Geforce 6600GT, and plan to install it when I get home today.
Since they are both Geforces, how worried should I be about driver conflicts? Obviously I will uninstall all of the Geforce2 drivers prior to installation, but I've heard that isn't always enough. I seem to remember hearing of a program that would insure that all traces of your previous video drivers where gone...can anyone help me on a name? |

It's called DriverCleaner. It's pretty simple to run:
1) Uninstall your old drivers in the "Add/Remove Programs" window. 2) Reboot in safe mode and run DriverCleaner. Select NVIDIA and clean up. 3) Reboot and install your new drivers. Most people don't go to the trouble of doing it unless they get into trouble, but if you want to be thorough, then it's a good idea. |
