Serious Graphics glitches

Hi there

I recently updated my system's CPU and motherboard, but no other devices. After i got everything going again, and started playing games again, i noticed that in a few games i get serious graphics glitches. I'm not sure how to describe them, to i attached a few below. The glitches also appear in just general menu's and during FMV's. The game by the way is nexus, the jupiter incident, however i've had similar glitches in Unreal Torniment 2004 also.... i tried re-installing the catalist drivers and re installing directx but still no joy, so any help here would be massively appreciated.

System Spec:

Amd Athalon XP 3000+
Gigabyte 7VT600P-RZ motherboard
ATI Radeon 9600se 128mb graphics card
512mb DDR400 Ram
120gb 7200RPM HDD
AC'97 Sound card
Graphics driver version 6.14.10.6517
Direct X 9c

Thanks for your time

Have you tried reducing AGP speed to 4x ? Fastwrites off ?

What power supply is your system running on ?

I've had the same kind of problem before except the graphics glitches weren't limited to 3d... what helped was installing latest VIA drivers because it has control over AGP

Try running ATITOOL and the 3D cube to see if you get artifacts. Maybe the card is overheating or damaged.

My System

Hi Severniae,

After reading thru your post and some others to get ideas for my new PC build I went to pcstats.com to look up some stuff for me. It was there I ran across some information that I thought you would want to know, it may shed some light on your problem.

I'll post the two links for you, one will be info on your PCU and the other on the mobo.

Also I'll cut and paste a few paragrafes I found interesting.

I hope this helps you, Or I hope I did not waste your time if you already know this stuff, Joe

*********************************************************

For those of you with memory heatsinks on the back of your card, take care when installing the videocard... When using our test Asus Radeon 9800XT, we found that the rear heatspreader would actually come in contact with the memory retention clips.

If care wasn't taken when installing the videocard to ensure it is fully seated, it is quite possible to potentially damage a videocard or the motherboard!

All current 333 MHz capable Socket A chipsets (VIA KT333, KT400, nVIDIA nForce2, SiS 746FX) should be compatible with Barton based processors although you may need to flash the BIOS for the processor to be recognized properly. For those PCstats.com readers with older 133 MHz based motherboards (VIA KT133A, KT266, KT266A, AMD 760, SiS735, 745, nVIDIA nForce) the chipsets do support the Barton core (not 333 MHz), but it will be up to the manufacturers if they want to give support for the processor or not. Bottom line, today might be a good day to upgrade you BIOS if the AthlonXP 3000+ is in your sights

*****The last sentance makes note, did you upgrade your bios???
