Max resolution?

I found out that my monitor might not handle my graphic card... how do i find out wats my monitors max resolution?

DELL E772c [Monitor] (15.7"vis, s/n 6418028708KQ, August 2002).... i ran a program that lets me know all the brands and everything what i have in my computer and this is what showed up

Maximum supported by this monitor is 1280x1024, which is, in my opinion, the best operating resolution to run the desktop at. For now, anyway.

Your monitor doesnt have to "handle" the graphics card. Or do you intend to run your graphics card at maximum resolution ???

well not really because everything will look really small in the game right? i have a 17 inch monitor so im just wondering wat resolution i can play it at that woudl be best

Well fox said 1280x1024 - i'd say for games thats ok. I mean you can at least try it out and see if its good enough and then buy a new monitor later on if its not. No need to worry about it untill you actually got your machine up and running.
The only thing is - at max resolution a monitor might not be able to provide a good refresh rate anymore - 75hz usually. If you want better to reduce eye strain you'll have to go back down with the resolution.

1280x1024 should really be fine for most of today's apps- most of today's games can't run at more than that anyway, and unless you have a 300+ dollar video card, you're not going to want to run games at that anyway since it'll skip around like crazy.
