TV VIDEO capture card

Sorry if this is in the wrong section..

Im looking for a Video capture card...
I want to convert some vhs and and Hi-8 to DVD
And this forum helped me a few times with computert problems.
So can anybody get me p to speed on what i need?
does a capture card work for vhs/hi8 etc or does the softwre do that?
what are some good reasonably priced options with software.
I'll install it on the gaming computer you guys helped me build so power memory cpu speeds should not be a problem.

Once again Thanks for the help.

Tony

What is the output of your antiquated media?

Analogue? If so I would recommend a Hauppage capture card. 150 or 500 series should do nicely.

"What is the output of your antiquated media?"

Thats Greek to me.

But I'll take a crack at it

I'll be inputing the media from a 4head VCR
and from the HI-8 video camera if thats what your referring to.

If not dummie it down a tad for me Thanks

Re: TV VIDEO capture card

Ahhhh
I guess coax cable from the VCR and yellow/red/white from the camera.

Hauppauge 26552 Desktop Video TV Tuner

Is a tuner card a capture as well? this has inputs for both

Thanks
tony

I would have to say yes. But the upside is:

1. Accepts coax in for recording
2. Accepts analogue for recording.

Its the same really. It all depends on the software you use, the inputs are all there however.
I assume it comes with an appropriate driver package.

If you want to be safe I would contact hauppage beforehand. That is the company I swear by however.

Re: TV VIDEO capture card

Thanks for the help. I contacted Hauppage and gave them the model number and told them what i wanted to do and asked for advice/suggestions and if it would do what i needed.

Thanks for your help, and if anybody has any other suggestions/help it would be appreciated as well
