Advise of cards?

My Service Tag #: 1XHLN91

Please help me decide on the right card for my system. I need to update my system, so that I can play Battlefield 2. Any help would be highly appreciated. I believe this computer has PCI-Express. It came with an Intel (R) 82945G Express Chipset Family. I am needing a vertex shader of 2.0. I PASS on everything else the game requires. Thanks in advance.

Re: Advise of cards?

I may also need a power supply to go with. Not to sure on what type of Motherboard it has. Please check the Service Tag out and let me know which route to take.

Re: Advise of cards?

Just post the make and model machine , your service tag number doesn't really help us.

There are dozens of Dell XPS computers, is there a number after the XPS?

Re: Advise of cards?

That Service tag shows as a Dimension 5150C with a PCI-E 2 GPU slot. You will undoubtedly have to upgrade the PSU.

Re: Advise of cards?

PSU "Power Supply Unit" ? If you could, just please give me a site for the card/power supply that YOU would recommend, as if you were the one going to play this game. Thanks a bunch!

Depends on the pricing. Depends on the deal but a NVIDIA 9600gt /9800 gt with a 550/600w 80+ efficient PSU should do you fine. I recommend Corsair or Seasonic. Or otherwise read up on the psu you are purchasing. Its easier to go with proven quality brands however. HardwareSecrets is a good place to start.

What is your budget?

Re: Advise of cards?

They tell me that PNY is one of the best for my price range. I would say around $150.00

Re: Advise of cards?

OK, I went to that site and I have no clue to what I am looking for. I thought if I gave you all my service tag # like the other sites that you could reccommend a card/power supply and whatever else I need, in order to play the game BF 2.

I did not find any such dell under that service tag.

@ OP: Can you see if there is anything written on your computer case?

Is it Dimension 5150C?

RE_EDIT: If it is this model, the manual (god awful dell.com wouldn't load at all) states:
PCI Express
connector one x16
connector size 164 pins
connector data width (maximum) 16 PCI Express lanes

THIS IS FOR THE 5150. Not the 5150 >> "C"
So you have at least PCIE-E X16 1.0

SPECS FOR BATTLEFIELD 2:
Windows XP, 1.7 GHz AMD Athlon XP, Sempron, Intel Pentium 4 or Celeron D CPU, 512 MB RAM, 2.3 GB hard disk space, sound card, DirectX compatible 128 MB graphics card, Radeon 8500 or GeForce FX 5700

I would say get a 9800 GTX.
Again...I would upgrade the psu.

Re: Advise of cards?

If you go to Dell.com type in under support, the service tag # 1XHLN91

It comes back as a Dell Dimension 200/5150C

Reread my post above. I edited it several times.

Also did you mean 150.00 WITH TAXES AND SHIPPING?

Anyways: 99.99 after rebate

And for PSU?
