to sli or not to sli
hey I have to get a new mobo because my memory slot is broken on mine. I have a geforce 8800 gt vid card and was thinking about picking up a sli mobo so I can get another card. I have been noticing that these are hard to find (8800 GT I mean) and then found out that they were rebranded as 9800 gt cards. my question is can I sli my 8800 gt with a 9800 gt or not? cause if not I may as well just get a cheaper mobo.

Re: to sli or not to sli
The 9800GT is a rebranded 8800GT, but they added DirectX 10 support so it won't SLI. Also SLI doesn't show worthwhile improvements unless you have a 1920x1200 or greater monitor. You also need the SLI motherboard (which are known to have issues with Intel CPUs on occasion) and a quality 850W+ power supply. It would be more cost effective to just get a single new card, perhaps a GTX275 or Radeon 4890 or 5770.
