Re: Driver for ATI X1600PRO 512 MB

Nope, that doesn't help... Still can't find them, in the specified location, or automatically.

Re: Driver for ATI X1600PRO 512 MB

Ok read this and follow the steps. Maybe this will correct the problem and get you going again:

You should probably download the whole package this time after following the steps.

Re: Driver for ATI X1600PRO 512 MB

Even though this procedure is almost the same as the one I did previously, I did it again, and, again, it crushed down the whole system.... I managed to do the repair of the Windows but still they couldn't booth, so I force-entered the Safe mode in order to remove the drivers that are obviously interfering with the Windows somehow... I have no idea what to do next?
Also (and this happened the first time, too) after the installation, windows automatically restarted, and did booth.. But, then a window popped-up telling me that Windows Installer 2.0 or newer was needed for the system to run, even though I had it installed before, version 3.1. After that message, the system collapsed and never could booth again. I don't know if this is relevant somehow but I thought I should mention it anyway..

Re: Driver for ATI X1600PRO 512 MB

Make sure you have all the updates for xp all the way to sp3. Do the .net framework updates as well. Then try the ati driver install.

How old is ati x1600pro, 3 years maybe? Maybe there are drivers for it inside sp3 already since newer one doesnt work?

Re: Driver for ATI X1600PRO 512 MB

Nothing worked... I now have sp3, .NET 3.5 w/ sp1, and I started the ATI driver install, just to get a "Severe" message, saying: "Setup did not find a driver compatible with your current hardware or operating system."

Re: Driver for ATI X1600PRO 512 MB

Try downloading the 9.3 version instead of the 9.8 version.

Re: Driver for ATI X1600PRO 512 MB

Well now.... This caused even worse chaos than the installation of the 9.8 driver version... The system collapsed again, but this time couldn't even enter in the safe mode, or the last known good configuration, everything was messed up. Since my time zone is pretty different than yours, I gave up for yesterday and went to bed XD with no idea what to try next. Now I'm back on Windows, can you give me any advice?

Re: Driver for ATI X1600PRO 512 MB

Is your video card oem (came with the computer) or was it an upgraded video card?

Is it ATI or branded by someone else?
