ATI Radeon HD3650 will not recognize external monitor.
I have a Gateway MD2601i laptop with dedicated ATI Radeon HD 3650 graphics card, Samsung HDTV as a dual monitor using HDMI connection. Everything was working fine until I updated ATI driver 8.65 to 9.10, during update a blue error screen froze the system, I did not write down error details. The update could not detect a second monitor and device manager shows display adapter as ATI Radeon HD 3200. I uninstalled 9.10 reinstalled 8.65 but still had same problem, system restore was not operating (my bad) so I have no restore point. Is there any alternative other than a complete system back-up?

If you have the original drivers and catalyst for the card you can remove the drivers with driver cleaner and install those. The gateway website may also have the original drivers.

Re: ATI Radeon HD3650 will not recognize external monitor.
I have re-installed the original Catalyst drivers but have not used driver cleaner so I will try that and get back. Thank you Emosun.

Re: ATI Radeon HD3650 will not recognize external monitor.
I tried Driver Cleaner Pro(good program for sound and video cards) to no avail. After disabling PowerXpress in BIOS setup for the video card the driver worked fine. I am not sure if the update changed that value.
