Re: Upgrading

Nice find! Newegg has it for $80. It isn't my favorite PSU, and I would usually pick a Corsair VX550W instead, but since the Corsairs are all out of stock this is the only other PSU in that range that comes close on quality for a decent price; it's either this one or step up to a TX650W.

Re: Upgrading

Yea that's it. The 54$ price scares me a bit. But it does check out as a good unit.

Re: Upgrading

Newegg tends to be a bit more reliable. Tigerdirect will occasionally "substitute" one part for a similar (usually cheaper) one if the one you ordered is out of stock... and they don't always tell you when they do this. But it isn't an every-order type of thing, and they usually only do it with RAM. That can be a problem because memory compatibility can be tricky on some boards. But things like power supplies are usually safe. One user ordered a $50 PSU from tigerderect and they delivered a $120 PSU, so... Win? Or fail? You decide.

If there's a huge price difference (as in this case, with the OCZ 600W being $25 cheaper than on Newegg) go with Tigerdirect, but if it's the same price or only a couple of bucks less go with Newegg.

Corsair TX650W 650-Watt Power Supply - ATX with 1 year replacement
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139005

EVGA GeForce 9800 GT with a 2 year replacement
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-518-_-Product

Final total of cart = $234.94
Just about $35 over a budget of $200, but I think it'll be worth it.
Should i mess with mail-in rebate, $10 less? Not a substantial change in cost if chosen mail-in rebate.

Re: Upgrading

Unfortunately Corsair's rebates are one thing I think are kind of crap. They don't give you a rebate check, just a rebate "card" that can only be used to pay for other Corsair products. That's why I don't include the standard Corsair rebate when talking price for them. However, if you're going to buy something else Corsair (they make RAM and flash drives too I think) then you might as well.

Re: Upgrading

Here we go again! lol
eVGA Nvidia GTX 260 Core 216 Superclocked
http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum...-review-7.html
Heard eVGA has lifetime if you signup within 30 days of purchase. But they still provide 1 year.
Thinking about getting a BFG 260 but heard customer service wasn't any good.
I'm still getting a
ATX 650 Watt Corsair PSU
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Corsair+...269&st=corsair
Is there any way I can order a product off of newegg/tigerdirect and have it delivered to bestbuy?

Re: Upgrading

For the price of a 260 I would say get an ati 5 series and go next gen. But ati cards wouldn't work , it sucks nvidia doesn't have any next gen gpu's.

Why not have it delivered right to your house?

Re: Upgrading

Can't leave it at doorstep because I'm in a rough neighborhood. Doorbell doesn't work and I live on the 2nd floor of a workshop.

Re: Upgrading

There might be away to have them deliver it to the post office, and they hold it for you to pick up. I've never done it myself but I'm pretty sure you can do it.
