Windows feeze + video corruption.
Hello.
I have just recently encountered a problem in which windows freezes and the video displays green boxes / bars etc ... This occurs simultaneously and usually just after loading a video / game. After rebooting it appears to be fixed, and the system seems stable. The fps and temperature etc of the video card is normal. I'm curious as to what this problem could be, if it is with the video card or something else ... Could someone please suggest a way that I could at least identify the source of the problem? Perhaps running some kind of system stability diagnostic utility? I'm running windows xp media center with service pack 2 The video card is evga nvidia gtx9800 Please let me know if you need any other information regarding my system etc. Thank you for your time and patience with my ignorance

Re: Windows feeze + video corruption.
Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition, service pack 2
Intel Pentium D 830 3.00ghz Nvidia nForce4 - Dell 0G375 4x 512 ddr2 ram - Samsung Nvidia 9800 gtx - evga I couldn't find anything in what I think is the BIOS (F12 - setup?) which listed the power supply, temperature, or voltage. Is there some other way I can find this? The video card runs at around 42c give or take idle. Rarely above 60c under full load. The brand is dell xps 600 which lists a 650 watt power supply here: http://www.dell.com/content/topics/t...=19&l=en&s=dhs |

Re: Windows feeze + video corruption.
Seems you got a bigger problem
The power supply dell uses is absolute junk. This is very typical with dell and the card cannot be powered properly by it thus creating the artifacts. The real problem is that it cannot be upgraded because it proprietary to the dell's case. So you won't be able to change the dell unit for a decent one and still use the same case the pc came in.

Re: Windows feeze + video corruption.
You could just use a standard power supply and just have it sit outside the case if you want. For a 9800 gtx you would want a 600w+ with 26amps on the 12v rail and an 80+ certification. This would be ideal
