I have a problem with my geforce 9400 GT 1GB GPU. Everytime I start a game it stops after 5, 10, or 15 minutes. I can't even use task manager to close it. I've tried this with windows vista too. When it stops it says that my video card has stoped working. And it makes a strange noise all the time. I have an Acer Veriton M464 computer. Here are the specs:
RAM: 2GB Processor: Intel Dual Core E2220 @ 2.4 GHz Widescreen display: Acer V1930w (19") 1 PCIe x16 slot I don't know what the problem is, but I think that maybe it doesn't get enough power supply, so it stops working. It gets heated to much maybe, and it can't be cooled. I don't know. Please help me with this problem. Thank you.

Re: I have a problem with my video card!
The 9400GT requires a minimum of a 300watt power supply. Most brand computers come with between a 230-350 watt. I didn't see the M464 on acer's website, but the M460 came with a max of a 300watt PSU.
Two things I would look at, one are your system temps. I'd suggest downloading and running speed fan and see what the temps are in your system and post those here. I would also look at what wattage your PSU in the computer is. If it is around 200-300 watt, then you could try using another PSU, at least around the 450watt or higher. And while you have the side off of the computer, take a look inside and see if its dusty, if it is, clean it out with compressed air or a small air compressor. Just make sure to hold the fans in place so they don't spin. |

Re: I have a problem with my video card!
Agreed, PSU would be the place to start. I wouldn't run a 9400GT on less than a very high quality 400W, and we only officially recommend 550W or better.
Look for these brands: Good: Corsair SeaSonic CWT PC Power and Cooling Thermaltake Toughpower CoolerMaster Real Power Pro Avoid: Ultra Rosewill Rocketfish Thermaltake Pure Power CoolerMaster eXtreme Power Tagan Raidmax

Speedfan is almost always wrong. For GPU use rivatuner/SIW/Everest Free.

GPU:58C Temp:58C Temp1:18C Temp2:32C HD0:25C Temp1:17C Core0:22C Core1:22C Speed1:100% Speed2:100% Speed3:50% Vcore1:1.34V Vcore2:1.15V +3.3V:2.99V +5V:5,08V +12V:11.90V -12V:-16.64V -5V:-8.48V +5V:5.59V Vbat:3.15V This was the info you required. Re: Here is the info you required
58C is fine. Speedfan's little temperature icons are junk, it gives the burning icon for the CPU when it's only at 35C. It also doesn't report temperatures reliably.
However, your power supply is insufficient for a 9400GT. You need a quality 450-550W power supply. A Corsair VX series PSU would do nicely: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...e=&srchInDesc=
