Re: Better of the two? SLI tech

Well when running 2 HD5870's the GTX 285 is only 10 percent slower. Therefore, running 2 GTX 285's will be around the same performance possibly a bit faster than only running one HD5870. But if you can I would recommend saving up to run 2 HD870's!!!

Re: Better of the two? SLI tech

Make sure you have a quality 850W PSU for running two GTX285s, and we recommend a ~1000W unit for two HD 5870s (the Corsair TX950W would be ideal for either actually, but I haven't seen one for sale yet). Either card alone will thrive on a decent 750W PSU.

Taken by themselves, a 5870 is a lot more powerful than a GTX285. Two GTX285s would probably outperform a 5870, but would be expensive, require a high-end PSU, and would only really shine on extremely high-res monitors.
