HDMI cable+ HDMI to DVI Adapter help
Can someone tell me why my screen goes so bulky when I try to put my monitor into HD? Ive got an nVidia 260 GTX DVI with a DVI to HDMI adapter on it with a HMDI cable going to my monitor (LG Flatron M1994D 19"). Can I get any HD with this? If not can someone tell me why my screen looks so fuzzy? I play games and when I try to read small text, it looks as if the word has duplicated and there are 2, but they have like a millimeter gap between them so it looks distorted. Any help would be greatfully appreciated

Re: HDMI cable+ HDMI to DVI Adapter help
I agree with emosun. Besides, there is no difference between DVI and HDMI. There used to be a couple, since for example, DVI couldn't not carry sound, but they do now. Your DVI cable alone may work better, since the adapter may cause some interference.
Regarding HD, if your monitor can display at least 720 lines in progressive scan (720p), I'm pretty sure it would be considered HD, even though it's not FULL HD (1080p and up). On a 19 inch monitor though, the difference is not really that easy to notice. I would say you'll notice the difference between 720p and 1080p starting in 32inch monitors (which usually are meant for TV, and come with no DVI but HDMI only instead). Bottomline, I believe your max resolution (1440x900) will look great. I hope I've been helpful. Good luck! |

Re: HDMI cable+ HDMI to DVI Adapter help
Well i checked on other websites about having DVI to HDMI and they said I can get HD on a 19" but for some reason, it wont let me, ill post a picture of what my screen looks like now, then a screen of what it looks like when I try to put it into HD
normal desktop: http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u..._061/after.jpg HD Desktop (Sorry for camera): http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u..._061/after.jpg As you can see on the HD Desktop (1080i 1680x1050) the whole outer edge of the desktop has spilled over to the outside of the screen. Re: HDMI cable+ HDMI to DVI Adapter help
It cant be 1440x900 because i am running it fine at 1680x1050, when it put it set to 1440x900 its blotchy. My friend told me that it could be something to do with the adapter I bought so hes bringing it to me tomorrow.

If that site is right, your max resolution is 1440x900. The fact that you can run it fine at 1680x1050 is because the ratio is the same (16:10), but you still shouldn't be able to make any resolution past 1440x900 (so 1680 would show up like 1440x900). Do the display adapter settings show any other monitor besides your LG Flatron? Make sure you are enabling it properly, since you may get image all the same. |
