Common problem with Nvidia Cards / Drivers and system lock ups?

Hey guys,

I have an issue with my PC that I have been unable to trouble shoot my self. I've done alot of investigating and it seems like there's alot of Nvidia card users that are experiencing similar issues, heres my problem:

While playing certain games (World of Warcraft, NHL 09, GTA) my computer will randomly lock up, the sound loops and I get a weird video glitch on my screen. This will happen completely randomly, sometimes instantly after loading the game, sometimes many hours into game play, sometimes I don't get a lock up for a week, other times i get 10 lock ups a day. This has been very frustrating.

The thread below has an attatched picture that shows the video glitch when my system locks up. (Sometimes the colors change as well)

Computer Locking up + Screen Pixelating

The odd thing is I can play other games (counter-strike, TFC, watch videos etc) and I NEVER get lock ups, only while playing specific games. A friend of mine suggested it could be RAM so I upgraded because this PC is fairly old (2006). After upgrading my RAM i'm still experiencing these issues.

My computer specs can be found here:

Please note since buying this PC I have upgraded the video card to an EVGA Nvidia 8800GT, the PSU to a 525w enermax triple 12v rails. Also as mentioned before i've upgrading the RAM.

I have my GPU fan speed set to 100% I monitor my temperatures and they never get too hot, i also keep the side off my case to help cool it.

If you need additional information i'd be happy to post it.

Also: My Event Viewer isn't showing any errors unless I get a BSOD, which is rare it usually just locks up completley and no BSOD appears.
