HIS HD3650 Radeon AGP 512MB (ATI)
Hi guys
I recently bought this excellent card which I know has worked wonders on peoples computers however shortly after slotting it into my computer and installing the drivers, everytime I started up a game it would crash sometimes seconds after launch or a few minutes, completely random. I am pretty damn sure its a driver problem. but i really cannot tackle this one. Here are my systems specs Intel 3.0ghz Pentium 4 Processer Gigabyte 8KNXP Motherboard HIS HD3650 Radeon AGP card 1GB RAM 650W PSU Here is what i've already tried - Reinstalling windows OS - Reinstalling the drivers - Updating the Drivers to a newer edition - Updating the Drivers to an older edition - Uninstalling Catalyst Control Centre - Updating Catalyst Control Centre to a new edition - Updating Catalyst Control Centre to an older edition - Going into Device Manager -> System Devices -> AGP to Processer Controller and changing it to PCI (just bugged up my FPS and still crashed) - Installing Omega Drivers - Installing A wide range of HotFix AGP drivers - Checked for overheating, none at all - Did a memory test, %100 OK - Motherboard works fine with all other cards - The card itself works on my mates computer without a problem - Tried changing the clock speeds around higher and lower - Tried different Resolutions\Windowed mode - Changing AGP speed from 8x to 4x - Turning off Fastwrites Sometimes the graphics card crashes in seconds and goes to black screen and restarts, or goes to blue screen with atidvag2.dll infinite loop. Other times it won crash for up to 12 hours straight of gameplay. It is completely random Is there any way of curing this? Last edited by Urukan; 10-10-2009 at 10:26 AM. |

Re: HIS HD3650 Radeon AGP 512MB (ATI)
Those new ati card's are meant for newer agp machines. Not to upgrade old server boards which are not going to have a lot of bios support for video cards. You can try the latest bios but you may be outa luck

Re: HIS HD3650 Radeon AGP 512MB (ATI)
I did glance over something about the BIOS being a possible problem.
The machine is in perfect condition and has never had a single problem for years and i've maintained it very well. So the age of it is probably the issue yeah. Thankyou :) Last edited by Urukan; 10-10-2009 at 10:40 AM. Reason: forgot to say thanks :D |

I ran the flash by the way, I hit Enter, screen wentblack for a sec, then returned to desktop without any confirmation message or prompt for restart.

Re: HIS HD3650 Radeon AGP 512MB (ATI)
I used to own one of those cards. I had a problem similar to this, it would shut down when playing games or even booting windows. I fixed it by turning off AGP fast write and read.
See you already tried that. Sorry lol. |
