Monitor Not Responding
Right, I've probably posted this in the wrong place since it isn't really a video card problem, but whatever. I've been having a problem with my PC and was wondering if anyone here could shed some light onto what exactly is going wrong.
Basically, the problem boils down to the fact that my monitor isn't displaying... well... anything. I turn my PC on as usual, and the monitor just goes straight to standby mode and refuses to do anything at all. I've actually had this problem before, and I managed to fix it by flushing the CMOS (just using the jumper, I haven't tried draining the battery but I assume this has a similar effect?). But this time, this approach did nothing, so I assume from this that there is nothing wrong in the BIOS. I've tried three diferent cards each with two different monitors and the same thing happens. I've also tried swapping each of my RAM sticks for a spare one, and again, no result. I've used an online calculator to check that the voltage from my power supply is right, and that all seems fine too. So does anyone have any suggestions? If I could just work out what the problem is I could get the replacement part and hopefully get the damn thing working again. Thanks a lot, Joe |

Re: Monitor Not Responding
Sorry for the delay, since I can't use my PC at the mo, I can only respond when at a friend's house.
My PC is custom built, and the specs are as follows: Mobo: ASUS PSVD2-X CPU: Core2Duo E4600 2400MHz RAM: 2x Corsair VS1GB53302 1GB Graphics: GeForce 8500GT PSU: WIN Power ATX-400 Thanks again. EDIT: I've just noticed that my PC isn't giving off the usual beep on startup. Don't know if that helps. Last edited by joelol; 09-23-2009 at 09:20 AM. |

Re: Monitor Not Responding
Your PSU is not good quality and is underpowered for your hardware.
I would suggest trying a good quality 500W plus PSU. SeaSonic 550W $90 w/$10 cash rebate. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817151027
