Cannot change 4870 fan speed
I have downloaded 9.9 CCC and updated drivers multiple times, and the option to change the fan speed is not there in any way. It's just blank where the option should be. I have reformatted and re-installed again and tried multiple other softwares. Even if I try to change the fan speed through there, absolutely nothing happens. I am at a loss as for what to do now. I have tried everything I have been able to find but I can't seem to find any fix for this.

Re: Cannot change 4870 fan speed
What brand is the card you have?
Try using a program like rivatuner to change fan speed as well.

Already tried Riva and ATItool, neither change the speed. It just doesn't respond to any settings I make in those programs, and the fan speed slider is non-existent in CCC. |

Re: Cannot change 4870 fan speed
I don't know. The fan is spinning, right? I haven't used a VisionTek GPU before, maybe they do something weird with their fans.

Re: Cannot change 4870 fan speed
But if you look at the reviews for the card on egg, people report being able to change their fan speeds via CCC. Yeah the fan works, had the case open and it's definitely spinning.

Re: Cannot change 4870 fan speed
After trying some more stuff I am still stuck in the water where I have been. Something else I was able to find out though is that not only am I unable to control the fan speed due to the slider not being there, but the sliders that are there (overclocking) actually do not make a difference in my card. It's like it doesn't respond to the Overdrive section of CCC, cannot overclock or underclock it even while it is unlocked. Could this possibly be my mobo as well or all GPU and just needs an RMA?

Re: Cannot change 4870 fan speed
No... It may be that VisionTek has locked it to prevent overclocking, so as to reduce warranty claims. That would be my guess. Do the people who claim to have overclocked this *particular* brand/model card on newegg have the "this customer bought this item from newegg.com" next to them? If not then they may have a different brand or version.

Re: Cannot change 4870 fan speed
Yeah it is all the same card as the one I got, same model #.
After trying to update my Mobo's bios, I got an error message saying that it doesn't support 64 bit Vista. This is never something that I have encountered before but there isn't any 64 bit version to DL. http://www.msi.com/index.php?func=do...1&prod_no=1864 is where the only Bios file I can find for my mobo (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813130233). Whenever I try to run it I get an error saying that it isn't for 64 bit, contact MSI. |
