Need help with a new graphics card.

Hi guys well i'm starting to get more into games and stuff and I decided that I should get a new graphic card cause mine is total crap. So can you guys give me a recommendation on a good graphic card that is a good price for how well the card runs. My PC is a HP a6700F. Yeah crap I know. Anyways thanks for the help guys.

Re: Need help with a new graphics card.

Well, right now the Radeon 4000 series cards are all pretty good value, particularly the Radeon 4800 cards in comparison to their Nvidia equivalents. However, the power supply powering your computer (a generic 300W) isn't sufficient to run a decent graphics card. I had an A6600F with a 350W PSU and put in a GeForce 9500GT and it barely ran. On 300W I wouldn't even want to try a GeForce 9400GT/Radeon 4550.

Basically, it comes down to your budget. You're looking at about $120 for a PSU and graphics card that can play modern games on medium settings. The higher the budget, the better hardware you can get, though I'll warn you that anything more than about a GeForce 9800GT/Radeon 4830 will be bottlenecked by the CPU (a slow quad core is worse than a midrange dual core).

Re: Need help with a new graphics card.

Probably stick with nvidia on this build due to the 6150 chipset.

Whups, gah, I forget.

BFG Tech GeForce 9500GT 1GB GDDR2
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-150-_-Product
$69.99

The Radeon 4670 is better, comparable to a GeForce 9600GT, but the 9600GT would push you over $150. An ATI card might conflict with your onboard Nvidia card, though.

Re: Need help with a new graphics card.

And one last question... Is it hard to put in the power things and the graphic card? Is there like a tutorial on how to put it in?
