Re: Which is the better GPU?

They can be somewhat equal, depending on the game. You'll hear differing opinions on which is better, either will work fine, though there are faster cards out there at a price. Thing is you want at least a quality 650 watt psu, such as the Corsair 650TX, to run either of these cards.
If you currently have integrated graphics, we normally recommend that you stick with the gpu of the same flavour, be it ATI or nVidia. This eliminates possible driver conflicts, though you can install either, it can be nice to have one less worry.
Most people would get either one, basing their decision on which they prefer.

Re: Which is the better GPU?

My rig is all AMD now and is far more stable than my old AMD CPU and nVidia board and video ever was.

Re: Which is the better GPU?

The 9800GTX+ is mildly more power than the 4850, but not by a lot. Since you've got an AMD system I'd say go for the 4850.
