ATI Radeon 4670 compatibility with ViewSonic
Hi,
Having a nightmare, just bought a new PC with a ATI Radeon 4670 card. This upon boot up starts off ok but then when loading up Windows (64bit Vista Home Premium) seems to knock out my monitor with a 'no signal' warning. My monitor is a ViewSonic VS11659 (VX2255WMB-3EU) which keeps flashing up a suggested resolution of 1680x1050 (which I assume is it's native). Thought that the card was faulty so sent the PC back, it been returned to me as nothing wrong and works with loads of other TFT's on test apparently. Before I spend £300 on a new HD Widescreen TFT does anyone have any ideas? Can only get the PC to function if I disable the driver in safe mode but when going back into Safe Mode I can not force a manual change to the res as the card is not functioning?? (can only change the onboard card res) Help appreciated |

Re: ATI Radeon 4670 compatibility with ViewSonic
I can not change the screen res in safe mode for anything other than the onboard card which does not go upto the native res. As i'm in Safe Mode the drivers for the ATI were not installed so how can I select the res for the ATI card? I am sure I am just being a bit slow.....but I can't see how to do it? Do you think it could be the refresh rates are not compatible? Please help before I give up and buy another TFT!!

Re: ATI Radeon 4670 compatibility with ViewSonic
In that case hook up an old crt and boot it in normal mode. Crt's can support most resolutions and refresh rates , from there you should be able to set it to the new screens res and refresh rate.
