HDMI output not working
I wasn't sure if this should go in video card or motherboard seemed more relevant here.
Ok so i bought a new HDTV 42" Panasonic plasma, Im pretty sure it isnt the problem tho, I am trying to get my HDMI output from my computer to go into the TV, I have a asus p5n-em HDMI graphics integrated motherboard, with the HDMI output, i also have a nvidia geforce gtx 280, with dvi output going to my moniter, when i check my display settings the nvidia geforce gtx 280 is the only one that shows up, my motherboard has built in geforce 7100, which i assume that i need that one to be recognized in order to get the HDMI output to work. I have installed all the drivers for mother board and graphics card, but it still isn't working. Please help:(, thanks in advance. |

Re: HDMI output not working
Not going to happen, once you put a card in there's no using the integrated outputs, they get disabled. You can use hdmi from your gtx 280 though. A cable should of came with it that connects the card to the two pin spdif header on motherboard or sound card, this allows audio to pass through hdmi, using the dvi -> hdmi adapter that also should of come with the video card.

Re: HDMI output not working
Thank you so much i found the dvi to hdmi converter and now have it working. I do now have a somewhat related question. With the s/pdif connection i found the cord, and it fits nicely into my graphics card but the other end is female two prong, and the male part on my mother board is 4 with one missing, [prong][prong][no prong][prong], I've tried using just the two but no bones. If you have any suggestions it would be much appreciated.

Re: HDMI output not working
There may be two spdif headers on the board, check your manual. Just looked at my ep35-ds3l manual and there is a 3 pin in with a 2 pin out next to it. Interestingly, my p5k-e wifi board has a 4-1 header for the out. The single pin by itself is +5v. and the one closest to the lone pin is the out with the outside pin being ground. I going to take a look at some cables, I've got an asus video card as well as a couple from evga, maybe that'll help, but the spdif out signal has to be connected, so I'd assume that and the ground. The ground wire on the cable should be either white or black and sounds like it should go to the outside.
Edit - ok, the asus came with a 2 pin on the one end, and then a short 2 pin and a longer 4-1 (3) pin. The lone pin position does not have a wire to it, so does not come into play in any configuration, seems more like a orientation. The 2 wires are blue and black, so black should be the ground. The evga came with just 2 pin on each end, red and black. Same again black should be ground, the only odd thing is that red is usually the colour for +5v. lines, which it can't be. Should work with the black to the outside. Of course, that's only if you're using onboard sound, if you have a card you need to look for the header on the sound card.
