Blank screen when Windows starts.

I just successfully installed an ASUS M4A78 PRO motherboard and Windows XP pro. The entire installation was accomplished using a classic VGA monitor. Everything works fine with VGA monitor. My problem occurred when swapping out the VGA with a Syncmaster 2333sw 23 inch LCD monitor. The monitor works fine up to the point where the Windows screen should appear, the screen remains blank and all hard disk activity stops. The video card used is an ATI HD 4650, which worked fine in my old motherboard with the DVI Syncmaster LCD. I nonetheless replaced this video card with a known good one, with the same results. I tried using both the DVI and VGA inputs to the LCD, same results! The Mobo BIOS has been udated to ver 1303. It appears that when Windows starts, this LCD monitor is not recognized by something related to the motherboard. I’ve run out of options. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

My System

Re: Blank screen when Windows starts.

Is the resolution set to one the lcd actually supports? Boot it in safe mode and set to resolution to the monitors native res.

Re: Blank screen when Windows starts.

Thanks for your prompt response. I have already tried
booting in safe mode, Windows still freezes when invoked
in safe mode. I have even tried installing Windows from
a cold start by booting from the CD. After all the necessary
files have been copied from the CD and Windows attempts
to reboot, the system hangs. I emphasize that this only
occurs with the Syncmaster 2333sw 23-inch LCD monitor and
my new ASUS M4A78 PRO motherboard. I have a second computer
with an ASUS A7N8X-E DELUXE mobo that works fine with the
same Syncmaster monitor, the reason why I suspect that
something with the former motherboard is peculiar to this
problem. Stuck in the mud! Additional info: Phenom II X2
3.1GHz cpu; 4 gigs of tested Corsair memory; ATI HD 4650
video card; 2 LG SATA cd/dvd burner; 600 watt p.s.; 2 SATA
HDD; 3 PATA HDD. Thanks for your efforts.
