How to Reduce Settings geforce 7600

before installing my nvidia geforce 7600
my Desktop XP & Win 7 ran Perfect & Fast..
P4 2.4 Mghz, 2GB Ram, (2) 250 GB HD,

After installing the geforce 7600 it's slowed down..
example I can double click firefox to open ...
and I have to wait..
I've set the system to Best performance over appearance..
How or Where or What can I change
in the geforce control panel to reduce it's need
for my system resources ?

Note: when I installed the Geforce 7600..
after 10 minutes something in my 17 yr old monitor
POPPED & smoke started coming out the back..
SO.. I have a ~New~ ~Flashy~ 22" flat screen ACER Monitor.

Re: How to Reduce Settings geforce 7600

I'm surprised windows 7 worked at all. As for xp being slow check the cpu usage and see which specific program is using the cpu power up.

Re: How to Reduce Settings geforce 7600

Thanks emosun for responding..

you misread my problem..
I stated that "before installing my nvidia geforce 7600
my Desktop XP & Win 7 ran Perfect & Fast.."
..
XP ran Perfect b4 the Nvidia 7600 card
and Win 7 evaluation version ran Perfect..
..
When I installed the new card that's when things
started dragging..
..
I looked at the CPU usage.. Firefox had most of the usage
which that's all I ever run..
..
I'm not a gamer.. All I open & run is
Firefox, Yahoo Msg, magicjack, & -maybe-
MSWorks or MS Word..
..
I did reduce my ACER 22" monitor
from 1680x1050 to 1440x900
and I think that helped a little..
but opening programs are still not near as fast
they was b4 the new Vid Card.
..
Certainly someone out there has a Nvidia GEforce
Vid Card and is experienced at working with it's
control panel..
..
Anyone know how to reduce it's settings for
a NON-Gamer that just wants the Windows Aero
use.. ?

Re: How to Reduce Settings geforce 7600

The 7600 may be increasing the machines over all load because the card enables features that were disable when your gpu wasn't powerful enough. Make sure your driver are the latest , and even try older drivers. Also make sure your bios is the latest.
