8800GT 1280x1024 Resolution

Hello,

Current OS : Windows Vista

I have been using one of them old monitors for a while the non flat screen ones, Its a 19" one and it can handle 1280x1024 fine. I changed it for my new 19" Goodmans HD Ready TV and the 1280x1024 Resolution worked fine. Soon as i restarted I can only use 1024x768.

When it was in 1280x1024 the picture quality was fine but now I can not change it back to this resolution.

Please help :) Is there a way to force a resolution?

I have the latest drivers.

Could you please post the model number of your Goodmans monitor. But as far as i know 19" monitors only support upto 1440x900. Vista must of been reporting the wrong resolution which is known to happen when swapping monitors while the PC is turned on.

Yeah that monitor only has a max resolution of 1440x900. It was probably a glitch in XP when you swapped the monitors over.
Are you able to select 1440x900?

Re: 8800GT 1280x1024 Resolution

I use to use a HD TV for a monitor a while back, i was getting the same issue, Vista wasn't keeping/saving the resolution. I later found out why. PC monitors can talk back to the graphics card so to say. The monitor basically sends a signal to the Graphics card and says what its maximum resolution and refresh rate is. Many TVs even HDTVs do not have this capability on VGA. I believe your problem could be solved if you used a HDMI connection.
Does your 8800GT have HDMI out?
If not you can use a DVI-HDMI connection.

S-Video for graphics card can be split into 3-colour component. Which is another Input your TV supports, but you can loose quality when splitting it from an S-video connection.
