Video Card Error Code 19
Hello everyone,
About a week ago I tried to start up a game but an error message saying "Failed to initialize DirectX" popped up. I checked my DirectX it is fine. I did some digging around on the internet and figured out something might be wrong with my video card. I checked device manager and sure enough their was a yellow exclamation mark next to my video card. Under Device Status I get this message "Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)". I tried updating my drivers did not work. From other posts I found online I tried these other things which didn't solve the problem either. I tried cleaning the registry with Registry Mechanic 8, uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers using Driver Cleaner, and reverted back to my earliest restore point. My video card is a Nvidia GeForce 9500 GS. My computer is an HP Pavillion running Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit SP1 with an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.4GHz with 4 GB of RAM. Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated. |

Re: Video Card Error Code 19
Code 19 is a Registry error. You could do a Vista Recovery, from your Vista DVD, and see if that straightens out the Registry.

Re: Video Card Error Code 19
Thanks for the reply...the only problem is that I don't have a Vista DVD. I didn't get one with my purchase. Is their anyway to do this without the Vista DVD?
Thanks again for your help! |

Re: Video Card Error Code 19
You can download a Vista OEM copy for free, it's completely legal (when you buy Vista, you're paying for the activation key, not the DVD). Not sure about what sites are safe to download from, but the guys at computer repair stores usually have a couple dozen lying around that they can lend you, or can burn one for you.

Re: Video Card Error Code 19
Thanks, I looked around the net for a free download of a Vista OEM but I couldn't find anything. I'll drop by a shop tomorrow to get a copy.

Re: Video Card Error Code 19
OK, a tech guy at the store told me that although my HP computer didn't come with a Vista DVD it did come with a recovery partition which is used to create a set of recovery disks. I created a set of these disks. Now that I have these discs what are the next step to performing a Vista recovery? Will this erase my files? Should I back up my files on to DVDs?
Thanks for your help! |
