S-Video only shows black & white

Have a compaq V6000 that had vista and we have reloaded it with xp. I use this computer to run karaoke shows and need the S-video port to put the words on the tv screen. The S-video is showing black and white instead of color. I have checked the 15 pin port and it works fine but want the S-video to work as it's easier to hook up than the 15 pin port. I have Navidia graphics on the computer now. Is there a test than I can do to see if something is turned off on the S-Video or is it possible bad?

Check your output for PAL or NTSC. I seem to recall the same issue and switching to the other mode solved it. Check this chart and adjust accordingly.
