Could my video card be the issue?
So I will give the specs of the computer first.
eMachines c1904 OS is Windows XP 40 GB hard drive 256MB DDR Video card is built into the motherboard I am not completely sure that this thread is in the right place but it was the closest I could find... Issue: The computer was given to me by a friend who said it just stopped working one day (it wouldn't turn on). I figured maybe I could play with it and see what the issue was. When I plugged it in and hit the power button it powered right up but the dispaly on the screen was self check, your monitor is working correctly, please check cables and connection. I began the basic troubleshooting...checked the cables and pins (everything was snug) opened the tower and made sure everything was plugged in correctly (she had an old firewire adapter port used for 1st gen ipod, which I removed) everything else seemed to be in the right place. I also removed the BIOS battery to try a reset (didn't work) Could it be the graphics chipset just crapped out? Please help this is driving me insane!!! |

Re: Could my video card be the issue?
I don't really have a way to test the power supply. Is my best bet to go buy another one and see if that's the issue? I though maybe that was it because of the issue of it not turning on at all before...
