Video Card Issue.
I recently found on my graphic card was the cause of my games freezing up and only allowing me the chance to alt+tab or end the process to escape.
My question is: How can I find out if my graphic card is broken or if it's just the GPU fan. I can run my desktop, small application, flash games, and a game from 1996 just fine. When I load a new age game it goes for about 5 seconds and freezes up for 20 seconds then un pauses. Majority of the games I can access the menus and it does not actually freeze up until the rendering of graphics. Is there anyway I can manipulate a GPU fan just to see if I really need to go purchase a new fan for my GPU? How can I tell if its actually just the card itself that is broken? The card is a 7600 GT and basically 5 years old, it has ran its course so I am not doubting the time for a new card. Other then games, my computer runs fine though. Any help? - The GPU fan is moving so I am confused - New power supply did nothing. - I have uninstalled and reinstalled the newest drivers and even alternate drivers - Put my huge real life size fan on my cpu to see if it was over heating maybe. - Checked the temperatures using FanSpeed. Freezes up before i can see if it is boiling during games. |

Re: Video Card Issue.
Can you post the specs of your PC and the make/model and wattage of the power supply?

Re: Video Card Issue.
Kind of been over this before, the card has worked fine for years. But sure...
AMD 4000+ windows xp 2 gigs ram MK8 939A mobo Geforce 7600 GT 256mb 450 Watt PSU I have tried a new PSU and it still does not work. But replacing the GPU and power supply it works. I have to replace my PSU and GPU because I don't have the pci express power plug on my current PSU. I just really need to find out if I need to throw out the card or just buy a fan. I already have purchased a new graphic card and PSU. But would be nice to know whats wrong with this card because I could maybe use it to make a cheap computer with random parts I have in storage. |
