Worth upgrading card?
Hi,
I'm wondering if it is worth upgrading my PNY GeForce NVIDIA 9500GT 512mb to the PALIT 9600GT Super+ 1GB DDR2 DVI VGA HDMI Cuda and PhysX ready PCI-E and will it be compatible with my computer? Thanks EDIT: Link to the card: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/164122 Last edited by exor134; 08-03-2009 at 03:13 PM. |

Re: Worth upgrading card?
It should be compatible with your computer, though depending on your power supply you might need a new one--if what you have is barely sufficient for a 9500GT then it won't be enough at all for a 9600GT.
However the performance increase between the 9500GT and the 9600GT isn't really all that much. You'll see some improvement, but I don't think it would be worth the £60 for the new card. If you want an upgrade save up and get something a 9800GTX+ or GTX260, though you'll probably also need a new power supply to run those.

Re: Worth upgrading card?
Alright, thanks for the reply.
One question, if i got the Intel Core 2 Duo (E8500) 3.16GHz along with the 9600 (ive found a different version of the 9600 @ http://www.aiop.co.uk/product_info.p...ducts_id=13243) would it boost my FPS in games? I'm currently on the E4500 2.20GHz Thanks |

Re: Worth upgrading card?
Somewhat, but first we need to know what PSU you have. Brand, model, wattage. If you don't know, shut down your computer and open the case, the PSU should be the big boxy component with a half a dozen wires coming from it, there should be information on the side of it.
