New Ati Radeon x1650 pro problems

I have a dell prescion 350 that has windows xp 2002 version and it had a nvidia geforce 6800 graphics in it that needed to be replaced. I just bought a Ati Radeon x1650 pro agp graphics card which is brand new. When i installed the new Ati card in place of the nvidia graphics card the computer turns on but the monitor power button stays yellow. I tried installing the driver before i put the new graphics card in and it did not work. Any suggestions are greatly appreicated thanks!

Re: New Ati Radeon x1650 pro problems

The 1650 Pro should have an auxiliary power connector, do you have it hooked up?
Is it a AGP or PCIe card?

Re: New Ati Radeon x1650 pro problems

What brand and model 1650 card did you get?
The motherboard is 4x AGP some 1650's are 8x, others supposed to be 4x/8x but often don't work in 4x boards.

Re: New Ati Radeon x1650 pro problems

I have the same problem but I got my card second hand without an auxiliary connector. Could you tell me what type of cable I would need to pick up?

Also running:

Intel Core 2 Duo E4700 @ 2.60GHz 2.60GHz
3GB RAM
Currently NVIDIA GeForce 7050 / NVIDIA nForce 630i graphics card
Windows 7 OS

In case it's needed.

Re: New Ati Radeon x1650 pro problems

IS it a 4 Pin plug it's probably a 4 Molex just like powers a IDE hard drive you may or may not have an extra on on the PSU harness.

Re: New Ati Radeon x1650 pro problems

It says on the box Ati Radeon X1650 512M 128B DDR2 AGP. It dos not have a place on the graphic card to hook up anything...

Re: New Ati Radeon x1650 pro problems

This on from Sapphire uses a floppy drive plug do you have a connector that looks like this, some have a 4 pin molex like an IDE hard drive takes and the plain 1650 does not have a plug.

Re: New Ati Radeon x1650 pro problems

well it dos not have one but it looks like there is a spot for a 4 prong thing where the white thing in the picture you posted is. Could it be that it dosent need one or it dos and its not on there ?

Re: New Ati Radeon x1650 pro problems

If it's not there it does not need one, different manufacturers make them differently.

Re: New Ati Radeon x1650 pro problems

No if it's not there it doesn't need one. I think the card is either defective or not compatible with your motherboard.

Re: New Ati Radeon x1650 pro problems

What power supply unit are you using? 400wt or 550wt. If yor PSU is above 550wt then ur motherboard is not compatible.
