Jerky video playback and gameplay

Hi

I have a GeForce 8800 GTS and am using Vista 64bit, the rest of my specs are in my sig.

I was on my PC watching a video on BBC iPlayer (a flash video, I believe) when my local area experience a power failure and everything turned off...

On the power returning, I restarted my computer. Everything seemed fine at first, but after a couple of minutes I got a BSOD, part of which I remember mentioned something about memory caches emptying, or something, and there was some couter that counted up to 100..... then the computer restarted.

It hung for a while before the circular windows icon appears and windows starts.... going back to watch the rest of the video clip I was watching, I discovered video playback had become very very jerky and laggy. I tried other sites like YouTube, but found the same problem existed. I tried re-installing Flash, but this didnt fix anything so I suspected the cause of the problem to be elsewhere.

I've tried running games and have discovered the problem to exist there too, in actual gameplay as well as intro videos etc. So guessing my actual graphics card's to blame I've reinstalled the latest drivers, but again the problem hasnt been fixed....

Has anyone experienced this before, or knows how to fix it..?!

Thanks in advance.

Re: Jerky video playback and gameplay

I think I've solved it myself. At the moment my final thoughts that the card was overheating may have been confirmed... I've let my PC sit off for an hour and things appear to have been resolved.... for now...!

Brand and Model of your PSU. It could have been damaged, as could your Video Card, when the power outage occurred.
