Bit of advice. What do i uninstall B4 installing nvidia drivers

hello.thoughht things were mean't to get easier/simpler ._9
Anyway I downloaded the latest drivers on the Gaimward website for the Gainward GTX260 Gs I have. My understanding is that I have to uninstall the nvidia Drivers via the control panel before installing the new ones (nv_186.18_vista64bit_CD134S (I know these are not the very latest available but want only to install those on card manufacturers web-site) I have unzipped these and assume I just navigate to the setup.exe file and run it-

The problem I am having is that when I choose to UNinstall the present drivers it asks me if I want to
Remove All Nvidia Drivers including Display
Remove All Nvidia Drivers except for Display
Rempve only the following ....then it lists Nvidia Driver disaplay, Nvidia Ethernet driver components, Nvidia nforce System management, and Nvidia SMU Driver.

HELP !!!!.....wan't it simpler before... :-? getting tooooooo old
anyway as usual any clarification most welcome
thanks

Genrally you only need to remove the display driver. But since your not really changing card brands you don't have to remove the old ones at all.

emosun...thanks for the reply...so just to confirm I've understood.....I only need to navigate to the extracted setup.exe file and run this, and then the installer will install the new drivers over the old...or automatically uninstall the old drivers itself and then install?? Is that right ?
thanks

It should install over your old , if you previously had an nvidia card that was 6 series or higher it's probably the same driver anyway. If you want to feel safe you can uninstall your old driver and install the news ones.

Re: Bit of advice. What do i uninstall B4 installing nvidia drivers

hEÖLLÖ
i TRIED TO INSTALL THE DRIVERS (AS StATED i UNZIPPED THE file from gainward, navigated to the setup.exe file , and ran it)
Unfortunately all I got was a Blue Screen which stated that the Video was NOT Supported. I also got a message that stereo
something or other was not installed-Should I just Download fron Nvidia site ...I had the same problem earlier when windows update tried to update the drivers....Note I did not UN-install the Display drivers In ADD/Remove programmes.
I run Vista 64 bit Home Premium and have a 37" Philips LCD TV display.
thanks
:-)
