Hi,
My system restarts whenever I open a video file. When this problem first time happened, I formatted the system and the problem was gone..but now after sometime it pops out again. I have updated my nvidia drivers, deleted the "unknown device" under sound video game control tab, yet this refused to go down..please help me. |

Re: System Restarts
What is the device instance id for the unknown device? It is probably related to your graphics card and is causing your problem.

Re: System Restarts
Hi,
I figured out how to find the device instance ID, but unfortunately since I deleted the "unknown device," I could not find "device instance ID" for the "unknown device." Is there any other way to find again the "unknown device" or is there any other way to resolve this problem? I thought it might be the processor getting too heated and dusted and I cleaned the processor still this problem persists and I am really frustrated..pls help me.. |

Re: System Restarts
You just need to have the computer "scan for hardware changes". The button should be at the top of Device Manager at the far right of the menu.

Re: System Restarts
Posting your PC specs miht help.
Pre-Built--Brand & Model Number Custom Built--Brand & Model of Mobo-CPU-TAM-Graphics-PSU. To prevent the restarts (see below)--You should get a Blue Screen with Error Codes. If you do, write down the Error Codes and post them. Click on Start and then on Control Panel. In the Control Panel double click to open System. In the System Properties window click on the Advanced tab. In the section labeled ‘Startup and Recovery’, click on the Settings button. In the section labeled ‘System failure’, remove the checkmark from ‘Automatically restart’. Click OK, OK to exit.
