XFX Radeon 4870 1GB running VERY hot
I recently purchased 2 of the aforementioned videocards and when i installed them they didn't work as i planned (screen turned black after ~5minutes of use) I assumed it was from my power supply but I thought it would still be able to support it by looking at the requirements (It was 650w) so I upgraded to 850w and it still wasn't working as planned so I am only using one and it is running very hot (no overclocking done).
here are my system specs: ASUS P5N-D Motherboard Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 @3.00GHz OCZ SLI 4GB PC6400 DDR2 800MHz Dual Channel (2x2GB) Corsair TX850W If I'm missing anything let me know. And also I've been meaning to buy some more fans for my case but i'm not sure what i want to get my cpu is running at 51*C and I have 3 available fan slots left (using 3 atm) my case is http://benchmarkreviews.com/index.ph...=240&Itemid=61 my OS is WinXP SP3 32-bit. |

Re: XFX Radeon 4870 1GB running VERY hot
What temperature exactly is your graphics card running at? I have the Sapphire version of the card, and with the fan manually set to 60% I idle at 46C and during games get up to 70-75C, and it can get up to 100C without shutting down.

Re: XFX Radeon 4870 1GB running VERY hot
alright so i found out how to manually adjust the fanspeed and i turned it to 50% and its pretty loud lol i guess thats the sacrifice i have to take in order to get good temperatures.

Re: XFX Radeon 4870 1GB running VERY hot
So long as nothing in the system exceeds 70c it'll be fine. With high end parts you need very good case airflow. Make sure all the fan spots are occupied. Also make sure the room temperature is cool. Also , you can set the fan speed to 100% while gaming , it'll be loud but it'll be cool. It's an electric fan and is designed to run at 100%.

Re: XFX Radeon 4870 1GB running VERY hot
Best not to mess with your CPU voltage (Vcore) unless you're overclocking. It's fine the way it is.
