New card
I just bought a new 9600 Series card from Newegg. It was a good deal, I recently had another Graphics card on my computer which has unfortunately died and passed away. Now I have a new one on the way, so I wanted to know how I can remove all the drivers of the old one since I have to use the new card so I can get a display on my Monitor. I ask this because I'm almost sure that it installs the drivers of the new one so it works and can display and such so how do i remove the other one? Will it be called something different so its not mistaken for something else?? Will I be able to use Uninstall Program's with it?
Thanks in advance. |

Re: New card
If your old card was a Nividia card it will likely boot up.
Then you can use the uninstall in the control panel and then apply the new drivers. |

Re: New card
The PC will boot with the new card regardless of what chip the other one was. After it boots, uninstall the old drivers, download the newest drivers for the new card from Nvidia's website and install them.

Re: New card
What they said, also use DriverSweeper to make sure the old drivers are completely removed: http://downloads.guru3d.com/Guru3D--...%29_d1655.html

Re: New card
Cool thanks guys. I also just remembered that my computer doesn't boot up without a card. So this should fix it. I'm thinking of getting the new drivers for this card after i install the CD drivers. So that way I'm sure its stable, or can i not just install new drivers? Do i have to uninstall then reinstall?
EDIT: It also came to mind, can i just use the drivers the Nvidia site gave me? Or do they not have anything that i need? As in a control panel and stuff for the Card. Last edited by Equi1; 08-03-2009 at 02:28 AM. |

Re: New card
Nope, the Nvidia drivers will work perfectly, and in fact may be better as they're guaranteed to be the latest version.
