Please Help!! AIW 7500 - Don't know which drivers to install!!
Hi Guys,
I have a bit of a basic question, but it seems so hard for a non-techie like me. I want to know which driver I should download for my video card. Everest Corporate Edition gives me a couple URLs to download or update drivers, but I don't know which I should choose (download or update - and once I choose download, there are a bunch of choices, I don't know where to begin). Could one of you good folks help? I have two issues which told me I might need to update the driver or install a new one: 1 - I just find it strange that when I have the screen split across two display devices (I watch video on my tv), the windows background is fine on my desktop, but real weird on the TV desktop (see photo: http://www.flickr.com/photos/40997576@N04/3772739723/) 2 - When watching videos on the TV, some (very few) take on the colour palette from the TV desktop (see photo above), with lots of pixelation, and also ANYTHING in SMPlayer ONLY plays on my cpu desktop but won't even display on the TV desktop, just shows a black screen. So I figured I'd try to update or redownload drivers, but have NO clue where to begin. If anyone here can look at my setup and tell me what I should be downloading and *whether or not to I should uninstall with AtiCimUn.exe first* or just install over whatever I have already installed (see below under Installed Drivers). This is probably real elementary to guys like you, but I'm already lost. Please help! I have: ------ ATI Radeon 7500 (RV200) (ATI All-in-Wonder Radeon 7500) Video Adapter Device Description RADEON 7500 SERIES Adapter String RADEON 7500 SERIES BIOS String 113-83903-104 Chip Type ATI display adapter AGP (0x5157) DAC Type Internal DAC(400MHz) Memory Size 64 MB Installed Drivers ati2dvag 6.14.10.6614 - ATI Catalyst 6.11 Video Adapter Manufacturer Company Name Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. Product Information http://ati.amd.com/products/home-office.html Driver Download http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catalyst.aspx Driver Update http://driveragent.com?ref=59 ------ ANY help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks guys, |

For the 7500 series 6.11 is the latest driver> http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownloa...rer300-xp.aspx
Try cleaning the heat sinks on the CPU and video card with a can of compressed air available at office supply type stores. |

Re: Please Help!! AIW 7500 - Don't know which drivers to install!!
Thanks, but tell me if I don't care about recording TV and all that stuff, can I only install the Catylyst driver? I only ask because I've had the All In Wonder before and always found the software bloated and this computer does have a lot of hard drive space and decent RAM (1.25gigs), but it's still on old machine, and if I don't need the ATI Multimedia stuff in order to play computer files on my tv, and fix my display problems, I'd leave it. So I guess my questions are:
1 - Is the AIW software (ATI Multimedia Software) indeed a drag on the system? 2 - If so, can it be left out of the install without causing any problems? Thanks a lot.... appreciated..... |
