Video Card Lag?

Ok so im currently having a big problem with what I think is my video card. I play WoW and noticed that I am getting really bad FPS between 2-9. I normally average anywhere from 40-65FPS while playing even w/the video settings to the max. So initially I thought it had to do with WoW but to test it I loaded up Street Fighter 4 and it was also VERY choppy/laggy which it normally isnt what so ever. Ive tried restarting my PC numerous times but im getting the same results. Can anyone help?

Re: Video Card Lag?

Are you running any cpu intensive programs? Firewalls , virus scanners , downloads , ect? If you check your cpu's load in the task manager and see if anything is eating up cpu power. Try those first

Re: Video Card Lag?

Nothing is running except for my Firewall which is ZoneAlarm but I turn it off when I play. I just finished downloading and installing the latest drivers for my video card and still am getting the same problem. The games can load and play they are just extremely laggy/choppy. I don't understand whats wrong it was fine last night.....sigh

Re: Video Card Lag?

Check the gpu's temperature and make sure it isn't overheating , you can use riva tuner to check the temp.

Re: Video Card Lag?

Is this recent because my wife and I have had the same experience whilst exploring Northrend. Our machines normally plow through everything with no problem but last night we were getting frame rates like 1-2. Her rig has a Quad-core AMD and a Radeon 4870. Mine is a dual-core with a Radeon 3870.
