HIS Radeon 4890 - NOT WORKING
So I did everything as I should. The first problem was that it wouldn't go in. The jutty out metal contacs something (on the end) before it slides all the way in. So I pushed as hard as I could and managed to get it in as far as I could. It seems as if half isn't in as much as the other though. So, I plug in the 2 PCIe's and screw it in, turn it on, everything comes on (including the fan on the graphics card) aaaaandd.... nothing. Nothing shows up on the screen. As well as that, the BIOS beep is different. Instead of the usual "beeeep", it's:
"beeep, beep beep beep". Nothing shows up. If it's because the metal is stopping it sliding in, would it do any damage to cut it off? I'm talking about the metal on the side where all the ports are and it jutts past the GPU for no aparrent reason. |

Re: HIS Radeon 4890 - NOT WORKING
One long beep and several short beeps is universal computer language for "no video card".
Try installing it outside the case so it at least fits in the board properly , then try the card out with it properly seated to see if it was just sitting funny or if it's a actual incompatibility. The board might just need a bios update.

Re: HIS Radeon 4890 - NOT WORKING
You need to put it in the first PCIe slot, when installing the card the tab on the bottom has to slide inside the case not out through the slot in the back.

Re: HIS Radeon 4890 - NOT WORKING
Well, I did. But the FPS still sucks.
It's in the first PCI slots, there are no other nVidia drivers installed (uninstalled with driver cleaner) and the latest catalyst ATI driver is installed. Is it normal for a 4890 to be getting 55 FPS on the battlements in 2fort (team fortress 2) with no one around? It's performing exactly the same as my 9600 GT :/ |
