New vid card same old problems

First things first I'm broke and am trying to make things work with what I have. I had an old ATI 9800 pro that lasted a while and served good to me until I noticed that my pc would lag, glich, and at times I would notice green, red pixels in areas that there shouldn't be any. I later found out that I had a coil on my vid card that fell off. After rigging the card back together with a shower curtain (ghetto rig) it worked a lil bit better, but if I would goto full screen my computer would shut off.

My mobo is an oldy but a goody, I'll tell you the name of it if you could direct me in that area of where to find that info. It has AGP and only AGP no PCI, so I picked up a Nvidia GeForce FX 5200 thinking all my problems would be solved. I still have the problems I once had and I"m kinda bumed out. I notice that my PC usage goes up to 100% just to open up firefox, windows media player, or any other simple program.

I have NOD32 did a deep scan on my system and I'm clean. After researching my problem I'm thinking about just getting killdisk and reinstalling windows, because this system was running good when I use to play WoW in 25 man Raids just fine. Even if I only have 512 ram which I'll be upgrading soon.

Hope we can fix this I'm sure you'll need a hotfix report, but not really sure on how to do it. Let me know what other info you need or what your thoughts are.

-Thanks in Advance

Re: New vid card same old problems

Check the Temps and voltages(12v, 5v, 3.3v) on the PC Health page in the Bios.

Re: New vid card same old problems

Wrench97,

I couldn't find the temps in my bios so I DL'd speedfan and the reports are as follows:
Local temp 46C
Remote temp 52C

12v:0.00
5v:5.02
3.3v:3.27

Not sure if thats what you wanted for the voltages.

Re: New vid card same old problems

The biggest problem I see is that the drives are full, you want at least 25% free space on the C: drive you have less then 1%, See if you can free up some space.
