Re: what is PCI-E 2.0?

it fits the 16x slot
2.0 is the new standard which is faster than 1.0
a 2.0 card is supposed to be backwards compatible to ver 1.0 these days

if you are switching from onboard you most likely will have to upgrade the psu so allow for this in your cost calculations

upgrade to what depends on the card that you choose

Re: what is PCI-E 2.0?

look at the m/b specs if it does not list it as 2.0 then assume it is 1.0

your psu will need to be here to run it

Re: what is PCI-E 2.0?

PSU = Power Supply Unit. It's the part that takes power from your wall socket and turns it into power the computer can use, and is one of the most important parts in a desktop computer. You need a high quality power supply with a decent wattage to power high-power video cards. For a 9800GT you're looking at a Corsair 550VX or comparable Seasonic/PC Power & Cooling/OCZ power supply.

Switching from onboard graphics to a 9800GT will be like night and day. The 9800GT doesn't really need PCIe 2.0, so whichever you have is fine.

That PSU is low quality. You will need a quality PSU to go with this system.

Put a few more $'s . The one link by dai is an excellent choice
