[SOLVED] Graphics driver help!
Today, in an effort to resolve a graphics error on a game that I was attempting to install\play, I uninstalled my ATI graphics software. After restarting my computer (as directed) I attempted to re-install updated software (from the AMD website).
Currently, I can not install this software due to an error that reads: INF error Video Drive Not Found. Clicking OK gets me some message about not having a "standard VGA driver". Current system specs: micron pc, transport t2200 windows xp professional 2002, serv. pack 2 processor 1.7ghz, 1gb ram. I am about 99.9% sure I was running ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 with 64MB dedicated memory. (which corresponds to the updated software I attempted to install) However, I have taken off the ATI sticker, and I do not know how to go back and check to see what software I uninstalled... Please help me get my graphics software back and running on my computer ASAP! Thanks for the help!!! |

Re: Graphics driver help!
Go to the Device Manager and right click the Display adapter and choose Update Driver. Choose the standard VGA adapter after restarting, install the ATI driver.

Re: Graphics driver help!
Thanks for your help. I think I am a bit confused though...
Device manager doesn't have anything called 'display' in it. See picture attachment for options. I can click on something called 'VGA controller'. This leads me to the Video Controller VGA properties page. (I think this may be where I am supposed to be) Also, how am I sure that I have DLed the correct software? Thanks! |

Re: Graphics driver help!
if you have a onboard chip install the driver from the m/b cd or look for an updated one on the m/board makers download page for your m/board
your onboard chip may not be good enough for the games specs

Re: Graphics driver help!
Dai, thanks for the help as well. I honestly don't care about the game at this point. I just want my computer to be running like normal.
How would I find out what my m\b is and how would I DL an updated driver? Additionally, there are other *new symptoms: my advanced power options seem to be gone. (ie. Standby and Hibernation) Weird. Please Help!! |
