Hlp with SPARKLE GeForce 9400 GT 1GB PCI

In order to transform an old server (Dell Power edge 1430) into a work station, I recently bought a SPARKLE GeForce 9400 GT 1GB 128-bit GDDR2 PCI (model number SP94GT1024D2LHP).

After installing it (connecting it to the PCI bus) I started the computer but it wouldn't even go to the BIOS stage. It just stuck...

What should I do?

It's a really strong server and I need to work graphics on it (Autocad, Adobe CS3, Revit and Sketchup).

Any thoughts?

Re: Hlp with SPARKLE GeForce 9400 GT 1GB PCI

I'm pretty sure this means that the computer isn't recognizing the card.
Make sure the card is:

Compatible
Installed right
Has no issues

Also, make sure the fan is plugged in.

Re: Hlp with SPARKLE GeForce 9400 GT 1GB PCI

Well, the card is suppose to be compatible, just to make sure, what should I check? It has PCI connection, and the mother board has a PCI slot.

The problem is that I couldn't even install it (meaning drivers etc) because the screen was just blank, all the lights blinked and the computer didn't respond...

It is a new card (with no fan) so I don't think it has any issues. In any case I hope not, it took me a while to order it, as it's not easy to find it in my country...

More than that I've found a thread concerning the same problem in the DELL forum, unfortunately there were no answers...

You need to go into the bios and activate pci video cards to be used before installing the card. Also make sure it's in the correct pci slot. Some motherboards have a specific slot that pci video cards are suppose to go in it's usually the top slot or slot closest to the cpu.
