doubt it
I was amazed how smoothly it played on my 9800XT at 1280 X 1024. I was getting 60 to 90 FPS. Doom 3 is about 40. I'm no expert but I wouldn't think the card would be the problem. The Catalyst 4.12 were supposedly optimized for HL2. What drivers are you running? You might try the omega or DNA drivers. I stick with ATI but I've never heard a bad thing about these third party drivers. Sorry I don't have THE answer. I still doubt it's the card.

The 9550 just isn't up to scratch to cope with hl2 at max detail. If you want to be picky you could go through the catalyst CP and verify that AA and AF are switched off - but other than that I think you'll just have to accept the limitations of the hardware.
Bear in mind that although the 9550 has a good 'sounding' model number, it's actually significantly slower than the 9500. |
